CACAE Virtual Course: CSA F280 Whole-house Design Heat Loss and Gain Calculations

This virtual course, CSA F280 Whole-house Design Heat Loss and Gain Calculations: Understanding and Implementing Efficient Design Principles, offered by CACAE. This course, developed in collaboration with Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), will guide REAs through the CSA F280 whole-house heat loss and gain calculation process. Led by Mark Rosen MEA, participants will gain practical knowledge and skills to deliver data-driven calculations that HVAC professionals can reference for heat pump sizing while also expanding the value REAs bring to the retrofit market. Learning Objectives: • Understand the importance of heat loss and gain calculations for existing housing. • Learn key definitions and concepts critical to heat loss and gain calculations. • Grasp the principles and content of whole-house heat loss and gain calculations. • Identify the similarities and differences between HOT2000 energy simulation data and CSA F280 calculations. • Gain familiarity with verified software that integrates HOT2000 inputs through hands-on case studies. CRITERIA FOR REAs: • This training is for Registered Energy Advisors delivering the EnerGuide Rating System. • A “Full” category CACEA member OR a non-CACEA member REA who completed and modelled 15 homes tested under an SO verified NRCan program (ERS, ENERGY STAR©, R2000, or NetZero - D & E; P & N). • NON-MEMBER REQUIREMENTS: $1 million Errors and Omissions Insurance and a signed SO confirmation letter (annually). CRITERIA FOR OTHER HOT2000 MODELERS: • 1 full year of HOT2000 modeling. • $1 million Errors and Omissions Insurance.
